VCU CLOSES REGULAR SEASON WITH 14TH STRAIGHT WIN; A-10 TOURNAMENT ON DECK

Rams have secured league's No. 2 seed

The short story: Three players registered 14 kills each for VCU, as it powered past Fordham for a 14th consecutive victory in the regular season finale for both teams. VCU, by virtue of its 16-2 Atlantic 10 Conference mark, has secured the No. 2 seed in the league's upcoming championship tournament.
 
OPENING VOLLEY
  • Graduate middle blocker Jasmine Knight led the way for VCU with 14 kills on 23 swing and four blocks. She hit .522
  • The Black and Gold also received 14 kills apiece from junior outside hitter Alicja Jaryszek and freshman outside Lara Del Core. Jaryszek hit .407 and added eight digs and two blocks
  • On the back line, sophomore Anja Kujundzic supplied 18 digs and 12 assists for VCU
  • Whitley Moody led all players with 15 kills for Fordham

THE DIFFERENCE

  • VCU's defense held Fordham to a .113 hitting percentage on the day
  • The Black and Gold also racked up more blocks (11-9), digs (68-48) and aces (9-2) than Fordham
  • VCU overcame a slow start to hit .480, .273 and .333 in the second, third and fourth sets, respectively
  • VCU hit .298 on the day

  • VCU will roll into the A-10 Tournament as the No. 2 seed, its highest since the Black and Gold held the league's top spot in 2021

VCU will receive a bye to the semifinal round of the A-10 Tournament, which will be held Nov. 22-24 at Dayton's Frerick's Center. The Rams will take on the winner of Friday's match between the No. 3 and No. 6 seeds on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
