KNIGHT, DEL CORE CAPTURE A-10 WEEKLY HONORS
RICHMOND, Va. – VCU graduate middle blocker Jasmine Knight (Phoenix, Ariz.) and freshman outside hitter Lara Del Core (Busto Arsizio, Italy) earned Atlantic 10 Conference weekly honors Monday, following their performances in the Rams' 13th and 14th consecutive wins.
Knight was selected the league's Co-Player of the Week after she averaged 3.63 kills and 0.88 blocks per set, while hitting .565 in a pair of victories at Fordham. On Friday, Knight hit .609 on 23 attempts and racked up 15 kills. She followed that effort with a 14-kill, four-block match on Saturday.
Del Core collected her third A-10 Rookie of the Week honor this season after averaging 4.0 kills and 1.25 blocks per set, while hitting .319. She also served up five aces in two matches and recorded three blocks. Del Core blasted 18 kills and three aces in Friday's four-set win, and followed up with 14 kills and two aces on Saturday.
Knight and Del Core will lead the second-seeded Rams into the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Nov. 22-24 at Dayton's Frericks Center. VCU, winners of 14 straight matches, has received a bye into Saturday's semifinal round.
