THE SHORT STORY: One goal was the difference against Saint Louis, who received votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches national top 25 poll, as the Billikens snapped VCU's six-game unbeaten streak, 2-1, despite eight saves from senior goalkeeper Allison Karpovich.

PITCH SIDE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Kaylee Risher and Karpovich combined for the first save of the game, as Risher made an outstanding effort to keep the ball out of the net and Karpovich was ready to haul it in
  • In the 21st minute, Saint Louis took its decisive lead on a shot to the far post from just inside the Rams penalty box for the game's lone goal
  • On a forced turnover in the Billikens' defensive third, Santangelo sent a rocket at the net in the 76th minute, but Emily Puricelli was able to keep the Rams at bay
  • Saint Louis earned their 14th conference point, advancing to second in the A-10 standings with a 1-0 victory
