O'BOYLE ADDS MYNESHIA MCKENZIE AS ASSISTANT COACH
RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball Head Coach Beth O'Boyle has announced the addition of
MyNeshia McKenzie as an assistant coach.
McKenzie joins VCU after spending the past the past four years as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Rider. She was promoted to associate head coach and recruiting coordinator in June of 2024. McKenzie returned to Rider spending two years as a video specialist at fellow Atlantic 10 member Saint Joseph's. Prior to her time with the Hawks, she was an assistant coach for two seasons at Holy Family University.
"We are so excited to have MyNeisha McKenzie join our program. MyNeshia had an incredible career on the court at Rider and in the professional ranks," O'Boyle said. "Her player development skills, passion and commitment to our student-athletes will be an asset for our program as we compete for A-10 Championships."
At Rider, McKenzie coached numerous All-MAAC Team honorees including All-MAAC Second Team selection Taylor Langan and All-MAAC Third Team selection Lenaejha Evans. McKenzie also coached Makayla Firebaugh closed out her Rider career ranked eighth on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,365 career points.
McKenzie began her coaching career with the 2017-18 season at Holy Family. During her time with the Tigers, she helped coach a pair of All-Conference athletes.
McKenzie was a standout student-athlete at Rider, graduating as the program's all-time leading rebounder (1,143) and third all-time leading scorer (1,619 points). She was four-time All-MAAC honoree and was a two-time All-MAAC First Team selection. McKenzie was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team as a freshman and All-MAAC Third Team as a sophomore. In her senior season, she averaged 19.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. She finished her career with 45 double-doubles.
After graduating from Rider, she played professionally in both Portugal and Romania. In Portugal, McKenzie earned All-Import and First Team All-League honors with Boa Viage after leading her team in scoring and rebounding. She was again named All-Import and First Team All-League honors with the Phoenix Galati in Romania.
McKenzie graduate with a bachelor's degree in Communications and a master's degree in Athletic Leadership, both from Rider.
