WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SIGNS DAIJA PRESTON
RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball Head Coach Beth O'Boyle has announced the signing of Daija Preston.
Preston, a 5-foot-9 standout guard from Douglasville, Ga., plays AAU for Team Berry and for Carrollton High School.
"We are so excited to welcome Daija to our program. Daija has an incredible work ethic, a true passion for the game and is a remarkable student-athlete. She excels on the floor with her explosive ability to get the rim and her relentless defensive effort," O'Boyle said.
Preston was named an Atlanta Journal-Constitution All-State Honorable Mention selection as a junior last season. In addition, Preston was also named to the 2024 Class 7A First Team All-Region 2 as a junior last season.
This season, Preston has been named to the 2024-25 GHSA Girls Preseason All-State Second Team as well as the GHSA Girls Preseason All-West Georgia Team. She has been ranked as the sixth best guard in the state of Georgia by the GHSA Preseason Rankings.
In addition, she also been named to the Atlanta Tipoff Club's watch list as one of the top 50 metro Atlanta women's basketball players. She led her team to a 24-5 record last season and this season the team is ranked No. 8 overall in the state of Georgia and No. 1 in the preseason rankings by Sports Illustrated.
