WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS HAWA DOUMBOUYA
RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball Head Coach Beth O'Boyle has announced the addition of Hawa Doumbouya, a transfer from Virginia.
Doumbouya, a 6-foot-7 center, will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting this past season at Virginia. Doumbouya originally started her career at Maryland before transferring to Virginia. Doumbouya is originally from the Bronx, N.Y. and played her high school basketball at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School (Md.) and AAU for Nike EYBL and Team Takeover.
"Hawa is a great addition to our program," O'Boyle said. "She brings both inside scoring and a great defensive presence in the paint. She has a high basketball IQ and is an excellent interior passer."
Doumbouya was a four-star recruit out of high school by ESPNW and played in 13 games as a freshman at Maryland. She averaged 2.1 points and 1.5 rebounds in those 13 games. Her best game came against Towson where she had eight points, five rebounds and a block in just eight minutes of action.
