MCLEOD SIGNS WITH ONE KNOXVILLE SC
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Former VCU men's soccer defender Scott McLeod, signed his first professional contract with One Knoxville SC, the USL League One officially announced Tuesday.
McLeod joins Gerardo Castillo, an A.D. San Carlos defender, as the Rams' second 2024 graduate to ink a professional contract following the season.
The Kingston, Jamaica, native was a five-year player on the Rams' outstanding back line, guiding the team to an Atlantic 10 regular season championship in 2023. In both of the last two seasons, McLeod was among the top three field players in minutes recorded. He helped the VCU defense post 17 shutouts in his time with the program.
McLeod appeared in 16 games for the Rams in his final season, starting them all and logging a full 90 minutes in all but two of them. The defender concludes his career with over 5300 minutes played and three goals, starting 57 matches and appearing in 68.
"Scott is just fresh out of college, from VCU where he thrived under Dave Giffard. His trajectory and development have been on the raise and I cannot wait to work with [him]," Knoxville head coach Ian Fuller is quoted by the club. "With the ability to play both sides as a central defender, Scott's versatility will be a massive positive."
Entering his first professional season, McLeod joins the 2024 USL League One quarterfinalist team's defense. Read more here.
