HALLGRIMSDOTTIR QUALIFIES FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hallgrimsdottir captured the East Region title

Senior Gudrun Hallgrimsdottir captured the East Region title in the hammer throw with a mark of 69.53 meters to qualify for her third consecutive NCAA Championships.
 
Despite entering the hammer on Thursday with the third best mark in the East Region, Hallgrimsdottir cleared the rest of the competition by over two meters, comfortably qualifying for yet another NCAA Championships. This marks the second consecutive season in which she has finished first in the hammer at the NCAA East Region First Round. 
 
The Iceland native finished fifth at last season's NCAA Championships with a best throw of 69.12 meters. The year prior as a Sophomore, she finished 15th with a best throw of 63.62 meters. 
 
Hallgrimsdottir has put together an incredible senior season, winning gold at the Atlantic 10 Track and Field Championships in the hammer with a throw of 67.22 meters. 
 
She will compete in the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. Scheduled for Thursday, June 12 at 1:30 p.m. PT/10:30 a.m. EST.
