VCU connects on 15 three-pointers in blowout win

The short story: VCU used a balanced-attack to overwhelm visiting La Salle en route to a 30-point win.
 
OPENING TIP

  • Joe Bamisile scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field for VCU. Bamisile also accounted for four rebounds in his 20 minutes of action
  • VCU junior forward Christian Fermin tied a career high with five five blocks, all in the first half. He also accounted for seven points and a team-best eight rebounds
  • Rams' graduate forward Jack Clark stuffed the stat sheet with six points, five rebounds and five assists in his first game against his former team. Clark was a member of the Explorers from 2018-22
  • Freshman Terrence Hill poured in 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and a 3-for-5 performance from beyond the arc for the Black and Gold. Hill's 13 points are his second most this season
  • VCU graduate guard Phillip Russell shot 3-for-4 from beyond the arc on his way to 11 points

THE DIFFERENCE

  • The Rams outrebounded La Salle 45-24, including 19-8 on the offensive glass. VCU owned a 17-8 advantage in second-chance points
  • The game was tied at 16-16 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half, but VCU erupted for a 13-0 run over the next three minutes, capped by back-to-back transition threes from Brandon Jennings and Russell, to take a 29-16 lead
  • VCU knocked down 15 three-pointers and shot 44 percent (15-of-34) from beyond the arc overall
  • A 19-0 run in the second half highlighted by a Fats Billups III 3-pointer gave VCU a 77-38 lead with 11:26 remaining in the game
  • The Black and Gold outscored the Explorers 44-28 in the paint and owned a 25-9 advantage in fast break points
