Giving Day Team Spotlight — Men's Basketball

Learn more and give to VCU Men's Basketball on Giving Day

VCU Men's Basketball is building on a legacy of excellence and ushering in a new era under the leadership of head coach Phil Martelli, Jr. After a remarkable 28-7 finish,
Atlantic 10 Championship, and NCAA Tournament appearance, the Rams are recharging with fresh energy and a drive to define their own identity—on and off the court.

This Giving Day, your support powers that journey. Contributions directly enhance the experience of our student-athletes, fueling their growth through elite training resources, wellness programs, and academic support.

Join the Men's Basketball Giving Day Challenge. The first $10,000 donated to the program will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous donor—doubling your impact!

The Rams have already begun postseason workouts and are building toward next season with a strong foundation of talent. Key commitments from Jordan Tillery (IMG Academy), Ahmad Nowell (UConn), Jadrien Tracey (Oregon), Nyk Lewis (Gonzaga Preparatory), Barry Evans and Keyshawn Mitchell (both from Bryant University) have injected even more excitement into the program. The staff is hard at work finalizing the roster, with an eye on blending elite athleticism, experience, and culture.

Returning sophomore Terrence Hill Jr. knows firsthand the impact of donor support:

"I just wanted to express my appreciation for your past and future support on Giving Day. Because of your generosity to support me to compete on court and pursue my master's in psychology, I've been able to develop my skills both professionally and personally. Thank you for the guidance and support—that's making a difference in my future."

At VCU, success means more than just wins. With donor support, our student-athletes gain access to invaluable resources: nutrition support, academic advising, career development tools, sports performance coaching, and mental wellness services—all at no cost to them.

"The generosity of the VCU Community and our donors has a tremendous impact on the whole student-athlete experience. It provides them with all the resources to maximize their abilities in the classroom and on the playing field." – Phil Martelli Jr.
