VCU BASEBALL NAMED ATLANTIC 10 PRESEASON FAVORITE

Defending champion VCU ties for projected league lead

RICHMOND, Va. – The defending Atlantic 10 Champion VCU baseball team was selected at the conference preseason favorite, tied with 2024 runner-up Richmond, in the preseason poll of the conference coaches.

The Rams and Spiders each received 125 points in the poll, VCU holding the edge with four first-place votes to Richmond's one. Each likely contenders, last year's A-10 Championship came down to the cross-town rivals' second meeting in the tournament as VCU completed its undefeated run to the title.

Saint Louis, the defending Atlantic 10 Regular Season Champion, was a single vote short of first place and led the league with five first-place votes.

VCU has high expectations in 2025, entering its first season under the leadership of Head Coach Sean Thompson. The Rams brought in 27 new players in the offseason, joining a group of highly experienced returners.

The 2025 baseball season officially begins on Friday, Feb. 14, as the Rams open with College of Charleston on the road at 4 p.m.
