THOMPSON ANNOUNCES 2025 VCU BASEBALL SCHEDULE
RICHMOND, Va. – VCU baseball head coach Sean Thompson released the Rams' 2025 schedule, which features 27 opportunities to see the defending Atlantic 10 Champion Rams at The Diamond during the regular season and 26 contests on the road.
Thompson, who was elevated to Head Coach in the offseason, seeks to lead the Rams to their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in five years on a strong non-conference slate and a familiar Atlantic 10 schedule, as VCU looks to repeat its A-10 crown.
The Rams will travel to three sites that played host to NCAA Regionals a season ago, visiting Clemson, S.C., Chapel Hill, N.C., and Charlottesville, Va., while also welcoming 2024 Greenville Regional opponent East Carolina and 2024 Charlottesville Regional host Virginia to Richmond.
Four of VCU's 2025 opponents concluded the previous season as consensus top 25 teams, including North Carolina and Virginia who concluded the 2024 season in the top 8 in all five national polls. Clemson landed in the top 11 and East Carolina among the top 24 in the final polls.
The Rams are set to kick off their season with an eight-game road trip, before returning to The Diamond for an 11-game homestand.

Among the first eight games, the Rams will face three teams who put together seasons of 40 or more wins last year, including a Feb. 14-16 opening weekend bout in Charleston, S.C., against College of Charleston, who is riding a 41-14, CAA Regular Season Champion campaign.
Returning to the Commonwealth, the Rams will face Longwood on Feb. 18, before continuing to Doug Kingsmore Stadium for a regular season tournament weekend at Clemson on Feb. 21-23. North Carolina will welcome VCU to Chapel Hill, N.C., on Feb. 25 to wrap up its season-opening road trip.
Rounding out their February schedule with the home opener at The Diamond, the Rams host the Central Virginia Classic weekend on Feb. 28-March 1, featuring Toledo, Penn State and Boston College.
In just the first three weeks of play, the Rams will face three opponents for the first time in program history, with Clemson, Toledo and Penn State.
Continuing its homestand, VCU will take on William & Mary in a March 5 midweek and cap off the week with a three-game series against Princeton on March 8-9.
With a 2024 Greenville Regional rematch, VCU and East Carolina will play a pair at the Diamond on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 11-12.
The Rams will open their Atlantic 10 schedule at home with Rhode Island on March 14-16 to close out the 11-game home slate.
A 2024 fall opponent of VCU's, the Black and Gold will head to Blacksburg, Va., for the first of two contests against Virginia Tech on March 18, and continue to Davidson, N.C., on March 21-23.
The second midweek matchup against Longwood will take place at The Diamond on March 25, and then VCU will play host to Atlantic 10 Saint Joseph's on March 28-30.
VCU is set to open its April schedule on the first of the month, with game information still to be announced, and then it will head to Arlington, Va., April 4-6 to take on George Washington.
In a highly-anticipated matchup, the Rams will welcome Virginia to The Diamond on April 8, the first of two contests with the in-state opponent, before taking George Mason on at home April 11-13.
Continuing to rotate home and away weeks, the Rams will head to War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, Va., to face Old Dominion on April 15 and take on defending Atlantic 10 Regular Season Champion Saint Louis on the 15th-18th, then return to The Diamond for their second bout with Virginia Tech on the 22nd and an A-10 weekend series on April 25-27 against Fordham.
Wrapping its April schedule, VCU will visit Charlottesville on the 29th for a rematch against Virginia and make its way to St. Bonaventure for a May 1-4 weekend series.
With its final week at home, VCU will host Old Dominion on May 7, before its home finale weekend against cross-town rival Richmond on May 9-11 at The Diamond. The Rams will conclude their regular season in Amherst, Mass., on May 15-17 against the Minutemen.
The Atlantic 10 tournament will take place at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va., on May 20-25 and the NCAA Tournament begins at regional sites across the nation on May 29-June 1.
