The short story: VCU rallied from a four-goal deficit in the third quarter and had tied the game at 10-10 with just 3:46 left in the contest. The Wildcats scored the go-ahead goal with 1:50 remaining and VCU had two shots narrowly miss in the final 24 seconds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was a defensive deadlock as VCU and Davidson were tied 2-2 heading into the second
- Davidson pushed its lead to 5-2, part of a stretch of four unanswered goals, with 9:09 remaining before halftime
- The Rams scored two of the final three goals before the half, including a goal from Amelia Eilbacher with less than a second remaining on the clock to cut the deficit to 6-4 at halftime
- Davidson would push its lead back to 8-4 with 9:38 left in the third quarter but four unanswered goals from VCU tied the game at 8-8 with 14:40 remaining in the contest
- The teams traded goals with the game being tied again at 10-10 with 3:46 remaining after a Koeneke goal
- The Wildcats Skibbe scored with 1:50 remaining to give Davidson the go-ahead goal
- Davidson won the ensuing draw control, but the Rams forced a turnover with just 1:04 remaining to get the ball back
- VCU had a point-blank shot go wide with 24 seconds left and another shot hit off the post with 10 seconds remaining as Davidson held on for the win
