VCU FALLS AT HOME TO OLD DOMINION

Jimenez drove in both of VCU's runs

Score: Old Dominion 8, VCU 2
Location: Richmond, Va. (The Diamond)
Records: VCU 14-34, Old Dominion 18-26

THE SHORT STORY: Old Dominion jumped out to an early lead on Wednesday night that VCU baseball was unable to recover from, falling 8-2 in a game which was called in the seventh inning due to darkness.

LEADING OFF:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Old Dominion managed four hits in the first inning to score five runs, replicating the Rams' early lead from the teams' first meeting of the season
  • Kleinman took a full-count pitch deep into the right-field gap for a single before Jacob Lee lined the next pitch into left field, setting up Jimenez to drive in a pair for VCU
  • Scattering three more runs over the next four frames, Old Dominion solidified its 8-2 lead
  • Due to a lighting outage at The Diamond in the bottom of the seventh inning the game was called, and the score remained final

UP NEXT:
VCU will welcome cross-town rival Richmond for the final weekend in the Rams' longtime home on Friday-Sunday, May 9-11, including a reunion of the 2015 Dallas Regional Champion team and Senior Day celebrations.
