The short story: Senior Caden Scarbrough and junior Braden O'Grady paced VCU as it opened its spring season this week at the Battle at Briar's Creek.
FIRST TEE
- Scarbrough fired an opening-round 72 and finished 5-over for the 54-hole event to earn a share of 42nd for the Rams
- O'Grady carded a second-round 69 on the way to a 48th-place effort
- Jan Rybczysnki (53rd), Jacob Conklin (67th) and Mac McGurn (70th) rounded out the top five for the Black and Gold
- VCU placed 14th overall in a field that included 35th-ranked Charleston and No. 37 Wake Forest
