RAMS CONTINUE NCAA APR SUCCESS
RICHMOND, Va. – VCU student-athletes continue to set high marks in the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate (APR).
Six VCU programs -- Men's Basketball, Men's Cross Country, Golf, Women's Basketball, Women's Track & Field and Volleyball -- scored a perfect single-year mark of 1,000, one more than last year.
In addition, seven programs registered a multi-year rate of 985 or better: Golf, Women's Basketball, Women's Cross Country, Field Hockey, Women's Lacrosse, Women's Soccer and Women's Tennis
APR is the NCAA's metric for measuring the overall academic health of each program, as well as tracking graduation rates. Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.
This week's release caps another outstanding academic stretch for the Rams. VCU student-athletes have recorded a combined grade-point-average (GPA) of 3.0 or better in 20 consecutive semesters.
