JACOB LEE NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

The freshman slashed .538/.684/1.385 en route to first conference weekly honor

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU baseball freshman catcher Jacob Lee captured his first career conference weekly award as he was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The honor follows not just one of the strongest weeks in the Atlantic 10, but one of the best weekends in NCAA Division I baseball according to multiple publications. 64Analytics listed Lee's weekend as the fifth-best in Division I and he appeared on D1Baseball's weekend recap in the top 100 performers.

Lee had a hit in all four of VCU's games, homering in three of them, as the Rams went 2-2 on the week, picking up an A-10 series victory and falling by just a run to the ACC's Virginia Tech on Tuesday.

Lee slashed .538/.684/1.385 on the week, with five of his seven hits for extra bases. Along with leading the Rams in each of those categories, he also paced the team with nine RBI, 18 total bases and six walks.

With his second four-RBI game of the week on Sunday, Lee brought his freshman season total to a team-leading 50.

Etching his name into the record book, the Chesterfield native's three-home run weekend raised his season total to 12, which is tied for No. 8 on the single-season leaderboard and is the most by a true freshman in program history.

Lee and the Rams will be back in action at Virginia on Tuesday, April 28, at 8:00 p.m. at Disharoon Park. The game will be streamed on ACC Network.
